The
OM is the most sacred symbol of Hindu religion and is considered
to be the primordial sound that gave rise to creation. According
to the sacred Hindu scriptures, the OM is the essence of each
mantra (prayer), which is why it is recited in almost every
start. The vibration sound of this symbol has the power to be
free, giving balance and joy and with a continuous repetition
leads to a profound meditation. The first appearance of this
syllable is found in the vedic texts or other variations such
as Vajrayana Buddhism and derives from the combination of two
symbols of devanagari Hindus alphabet. There are various forms
that are divine compared to this sacred syllable, in fact, the
Om is attributed to Ganesh, the Hindu elephant headed deity,
whose figure is often represented in the form of this symbol.
In Hindu culture this symbol is everywhere. One interpretation
says that Om can be translated into Italian as "eternal yes",
and is the equivalent of Amen. |
